It was during this time, while employed for five years for a well known Interior Design Showroom, founder and craftsman Kenny Macon began making gifts for some of his co-workers. That quickly grew into commissions to make one-of-a-kind gifts for their family members for holiday, birthday, and anniversary gifts. Already exposed to high-end materials for his day job, he developed a profound love affair for high-quality leather. Amazed at he way it stimulated four out of his five senses, with its captivating smell, its sumptuous feel, its squeaky sounds, and its stunning looks. He knew this was the path he wanted to take. He soon gained a sharper eye for designing and hardware finishes. This led to a stronger skill set for various construction methods, thus focusing his creative energy on crafting his own designs and building the aesthetic of what he wanted Macon Leatherworks to be, which embodies clean, efficient, and functional designs while procuring top quality components. That passion continues to this day with over a decade and a half of experience in bag making, and leather craft.
